Hello friends!
Let's catch up. This game is for the Nintendo Switch, & was wildly popular when it was released last spring. It is a game you can continue to enjoy at your own pace, which is one of my favorite things about it.
Now Animal Crossing is not a new game series, but I never really enjoyed the previous games. New Horizons was something I was really skeptical about, but once I started playing, I became really invested in it.
In this game, you design your character, & immediately encounter entrepreneur Tom Nook, who helps you start building a town on an uninhabited island. As the island develops, more villages move in to share it with you.
This game is really all about crafting & designing. You can build various furniture pieces to decorate your ever expanding house & island. Each villager also has their own style & theme (etc: sporty/whimsical), & can give you crafting recipes & gifts based on their type.
Every so often there are special events on the island, based on real holidays as well as villager's birthdays. Because of this, there are always new offerings to explore.
My favorite aspect of this was the ability to connect with other real life friends who also have this game. With a $4 monthly Nintendo subscription, you have access to interact with other switch players all over the world. I ended up visiting islands that belonged to some of my Disney friends in Florida, & we chatted in real time. Nothing is as wholesome as that.
It does take quite a while to feel as if you've completed it, but once you have, it's very satisfying to run around & see your vision come to life.
If you have any good game recommendations for me, or just general comments or suggestions, please send them my way! I truly love & appreciate all feedback.
Slainté!
Kathleen 💛
